Workshop for writers of audio description

Drehbuchforum Wien, in collaboration with Bonusfilm, held an introductory seminar on audio description from October 30 to November 1, 2009.

The workshop provided an introduction to the basics of audio description and presented the various steps involved in its production. The following aspects represent the focus: problems relating to synchronization of picture and text, giving the text a suitable rhythm, adapting the text to the scene's arc of tension, and producing a nuanced text for a limited amount of space.
Audio descriptions were produced by all participants and then discussed by the group.
This seminar was conducted by Martina Wiemers, managing director of Deutsche Hörfilm GmbH, which produces audio descriptions.

Details concerning costs and the dates can be found on the Drehbuchforum Wien's website at the following address:

With these glasses subtitles can be displayed directly in the wearer's field of vision, making subtitles on the screen unnecessary.
